OMH Hires New General Surgeon
OKMULGEE, Okla. – Okmulgee Memorial Hospital recently hired a new general surgeon, Dr. Benjamin Kamp. Dr. Kamp’s first day at the hospital was Aug. 2, 2010.
A 2005 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Kamp completed his surgical residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. While at OSU, Dr. Kamp served as class president and received awards for Student DO of the Year and Leadership and Service. He completed his internship at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Out of 135 residents at Botsford, Dr. Kamp was selected as the Most Outstanding Resident of the Year.
“We’re all excited that Dr. Kamp’s chose Okmulgee to start his medical practice,” said Rex Jones, OMH CEO. “He is an extremely talented surgeon who brings a new set of skills and expertise to the hospital and Okmulgee community. He is a wonderful addition to the hospital’s surgical staff.”
Dr. Kamp is excited to begin his practice in Okmulgee because of his desire to not only work in Oklahoma, but also to serve the surgical needs of patients in a community hospital. Dr. Kamp enjoys spending his spare time with his two children and cooking or watching movies with his wife.
