Emergency Room
The Okmulgee Memorial Hospital ER is a specialized unit designed for patients in need of urgent care. We understand that visiting the ER isn’t an enjoyable experience, which is why our full-time staff of doctors and nurses, who are specially trained to deal with emergency cases, try to provide prompt and efficient care to all OMH ER patients. We also believe that understanding how the ER operates will also relieve some of the anxiety of your visit.
What to Bring to the ER
When visiting the ER patients should bring:
- A complete list of current medications with the name and strength of the medicines listed. A Medication Form can be obtained by clicking on the Medication Log link located on the right tool bar.
- Insurance or Medicaid ID card. For a list of insurance carriers accepted by OMH click on the Insurance Providers link.
- List of allergies and emergency contacts or next of kin. For a medical information form click on the Medical Information Form link.

What to Expect
The emergency room is located at the west entrance of the hospital. When you enter the emergency room you will check-in with the front desk clerk, who writes down your information and admits you into the ER. You’ll then be given a triage assessment or initial assessment to determine your emergency status and the order in which you will receive medical screening. During your triage assessment, a nurse will take you to an exam room and ask for your medical history and reason for visit. Then, they will check your vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure and pulse. The triage assessment isn’t your actual patient examination; it’s done only to determine your patient status and the order in which you will receive medical screening. A patient’s ER status can be listed as crisis, emergent, urgent or non-urgent patient.
As part of your care in the ER you have the right to a medical screening exam and will not be turned away based on your inability to pay for treatment. Okmulgee Memorial Hospital; however, isn’t a critical care facility. We can only provide treatment to stabilize a patient in need of critical care, and then send the patient to a critical care facility.
