Okmulgee Memorial Hospital’s Medical Surgical Unit is where hospitalized patients are cared for. Medical Surgical patients recovering from injury, illness and surgical procedures are attended to by a full-time staff of highly skilled nurses and doctors. The unit has a 50-patient capacity and most rooms are private.
OMH Medical Surgical Unit physicians and nurses are held to the highest standard of care. We also encourage our nurses and physicians to continue their education after they finish school by regularly attending classes and seminars that update them on all the advancements in modern medicine, so they can provide the best possible care to OMH patients.
Medical Surgical Unit nurses not only work with doctors, but also many other health care professionals, such as social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, and physical and respiratory therapists in developing a plan of care to fit each individual patient needs. The hospital's medical surgical nurses and physicians also understand that every patient is different and that a plan of care that suits one patient won’t suit another, which is why the unit’s staff base each patients plan of care on their physical and emotional needs. Medical surgical patients are also provided with the education and information they need to make a quick recovery.
The overall goal of the Medical Surgical Unit is to provide our patients with efficient, quality, individualized and comprehensive care.
